Lord, I come to you at the start of this day. I want to be kinder today than I was yesterday. Meet me in that wish, and help me. Father, I want to treat the people in front of me with greater kindness today. Slow me down when I would rush past someone. Soften my tone when I could be sharp. Help me notice what others carry, and turn my attention toward them. Show me the small ways to be kind that you choose, and make me willing to take them. Your word says in 1 Corinthians 13:4, “Love suffereth long, [and] is kind; love envieth not”. Lord, let that patient, kind love be the pattern for how you shape this day. Lord, I did not live yesterday the way I wanted to. I do not want to hide from that, and I do not want to be crushed by it. Let me carry forward what I learned, and leave the shame behind. Shape me gently, and teach me where I need to grow. Let yesterday be a teacher and not a verdict. And in Colossians 3:10 your word says, “that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him”. Renew us in your likeness, Father, and teach us gently where we need to grow. Lord, make me kind today, and keep me learning. Walk with me through each conversation, and let me end this day knowing you were near. In Jesus’ name, amen.
