Lord, you know what I carry. I have carried it for a while now, and somewhere along the way I stopped speaking of it to anyone. I come to you tired, and I come close. You see this weight, and I do not have to name it perfectly here. I am weary, Lord. Hold what I have been carrying. I do not always know how to pray as I should, and I do not need neat words with you. Meet me in the silence and the sighing. I am not asking you to promise how this will end, only to stay with me in it. Your word says in Romans 8:26, “the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought”. Lord, let your Spirit help in this weakness, and hold what cannot be put into words. Father, make room in me to consider whether there is someone I trust. Show me gently if there is a person with whom I might share some of this, and give me courage to say only as much as feels right. Let me not be ashamed of needing another person. Where it is wise, let me be heard and not hurried. And in Galatians 6:2 your word says, “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” Lord, make room for burdens to be shared, and let any trust given be met with kindness. Lord, you know what I carry. Steady me, stay close to me, and walk with me into whatever comes next. In Jesus’ name, amen.
