Lord, the news is heavy, and I cannot fix any of it. I am tired, and I am telling you the truth about that. I do not want to go numb. God, I do not want to shut down just to get through the day. Hold my desire to stay open and attentive. When the weight rises, keep me from being overwhelmed, and keep my heart from turning to stone. I ask for gentleness with myself as I look at hard things. Be near me as I pay attention, and give me breath to pause when I need to. Your word says in 2 Corinthians 1:4, “who comforteth us in all our affliction”. Be that comfort to me now, Lord, so that I can stay tender and not go numb. Lord, I name my limits plainly. I cannot fix this, and I cannot carry all of it. Show me what is mine to carry faithfully, and help me set down what was never mine to hold. Give me steadiness for the small, real things within my reach. Let gratitude and hope gather slowly in me, without hiding the grief. Let me rest in your care, Lord, and not in my own strength. And in Matthew 11:28 your word says, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden”. I bring you this weight, Lord. Teach me to rest in you and carry only what is mine. Keep my heart open, Lord, and hold me steady. Thank you for hearing me just as I am, tired and tender and still caring. Keep my heart soft and my feet steady. In Jesus’ name, amen.
