Lord, I come to you at the start of this day, and I want to meet with you, not just get through it by myself. I come as I am, with whatever is in me, and I do not need to pretend. Father, I want to be honest with you today. I do not want to hurry past you or treat you as an afterthought. Make me open and attentive. Quieten what is loud in me, and help me to listen and stay near you, whatever this day holds. I am here, and I want to be with you. Your word says in 1 Samuel 3:10, “Then Samuel said, Speak; for thy servant heareth.” So I turn my ear to you now, Lord. Speak to my heart, and help me to listen with an open and honest heart. Lord, I do not want to carry today alone. Hold this longing in me as a longing for your presence and your help. Be close to me in the ordinary hours, and if I need other people, give me the humility to let them stand beside me. Let me know that I am not alone in this day. And in Romans 8:39 your word says, “shall be able to separate us from the love of God”. Hold me in that love today, Lord, and let your nearness steady me in every hour. Thank you for being a God who can be met. Stay with me through this day, in the quiet and in the busy parts alike. In Jesus’ name, amen.
