Lord, you know the person I love and cannot help. I am tired of hovering, and I want to hand them to you. You see them more clearly than I do. I place their life and their needs in your care. I cannot fix this, and I cannot control what is not mine to change. I place them in your hands, Lord. I admit how tightly I have been holding on. Loosen my grip. Quiet the watching and the worry in me, and let me receive your peace for what is too heavy for me to carry. Your word says in Psalm 37:7, “Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him”. Lord, teach a restless heart to rest, and hold this person in your steady care. Give me wisdom for when to speak and when to stay quiet. Show me what support is truly appropriate, and help me offer it without taking over. Let me respect their freedom and their own responsibility. Where I can help, make me steady. Where I cannot, help me trust you. And in Ecclesiastes 3:7 your word says, “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak”. Give wisdom for the silence and for the speaking, Lord, and keep love gentle and honest. Hold them, Lord, and hold me too. I place them in your hands, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.
