Lord, I come to you in the middle of a waiting I cannot hurry along. I do not control the timing, and that not-knowing is doing something to me, wearing at my patience, stirring my worry. I bring that honestly to you now. Lord, some days this waiting feels heavy, like it stretches on longer than I can measure. I will not pretend it is easy. I feel the weight of not knowing, the tiredness of holding steady when nothing around me is moving. I bring you my questions and my restlessness, because you are big enough to hold them. Give me patience that is not pretend, and steadiness that comes from you rather than from finally seeing the outcome. You are steady when I am not, Lord. Your word says in Psalm 13:1, “How long, LORD? Will you forget me forever?” I bring that same honest cry to you now, Lord; meet me in the not-knowing and steady my heart. Even while the outside of my life feels worn down by this waiting, I ask you to renew what is happening inside me, day by day, little by little. Strengthen me for the weight I am carrying, Lord, not by removing the wait but by meeting me inside it. Let me set my worry down in your hands rather than carrying it alone. Give me steadiness for today, and again tomorrow, however long this stretches. You are steady when I am not, Lord. And in 2 Corinthians 4:16 your word says, “though our outward person is decaying, yet our inward person is renewed day by day”. So renew what is worn down in me, Lord, even while the waiting continues around me. Thank you for staying near me in this in-between place. I trust you with what I cannot control, and I ask you to keep meeting me here, one day at a time. In Jesus’ name, amen.
