Lord, there are people I will see today who I find hard. I do not want to be smaller than I could be with them. I come to you honestly, a little tense, and asking for your help. Before I face them, settle me. Ground me when my chest tightens. Give me courage to stay present without turning harsh or defensive. When I feel the heat rising, slow me down. Keep me steady, and keep me kind. Your word says in Psalm 37:8, “Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: Fret not thyself”. Lord, quiet what runs hot in the heart, and teach a calmer way through this day. Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to listen. Show me where a boundary is right, and help me hold it without contempt. Let me act from my values and not be controlled by how others respond. Make me a peacemaker, not a pushover and not a fighter. Free me from the need to prove myself, because I stand in your mercy and not under condemnation. And in Romans 8:1 your word says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.” Lord, let that freedom loosen every need to prove or defend, and lead this day from your peace. Thank you for walking into this day with me. Whatever happens, help me leave as someone I can recognise. Keep me steady, and keep me kind. In Jesus’ name, amen.
