Lord, there is someone I love and I cannot fix this for them. I have tried to hover, to manage, to hold on tighter than I can carry. I bring that to you now, because my hands are not big enough for this. I love this person, and I feel the weight of wanting to help when I cannot. I confess how hard it is to loosen my grip. So I bring my love, my limits, and my worry, and I place their life in your hands instead of mine. I cannot control what happens to them, but I believe nothing about their story is outside your reach. Your word says in Romans 8:39, “nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love”. Nothing about their life is outside your love, Lord, and I rest in that even when I cannot see the way forward. Give me wisdom, Lord, to know when to reach out and when to step back. Help me love without controlling, and care without smothering their freedom to choose their own path. I want to entrust, not hover. Let your peace settle the anxious parts of me that keep reaching for what is not mine to fix. And in Colossians 3:15 your word says, “let the peace of God rule in your hearts”. Let that peace rule in me, Lord, so I can love them well without needing to control what happens next. Thank you for meeting me here, in this hard, honest place of loving someone I cannot save. Steady my heart as I let go a little more each day, trusting that you are near them even when I am not. In Jesus’ name, amen.
