Lord, the news feels so heavy right now, and there is so much of it I cannot fix. I do not want to shut down and go numb just to survive it. I bring my weariness, my fear, and my longing to still feel and still care, straight to you. Keep me tender and awake to what is happening around me, without letting the weight of it consume me. When I feel myself wanting to pull back and stop feeling anything, meet me right there. I draw near now, not because I have strength left, but because you welcome me as I am. Keep me tender, not numb; keep me steady, not consumed. Your word says in Hebrews 4:16, “draw near with boldness to the throne of grace.” I bring my heavy heart before you now, Lord, trusting that your grace meets me exactly here. Give me wisdom to see clearly what is actually mine to carry, and grace to release into your hands what I cannot fix or control. Clothe me with a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, and perseverance, so that caring for others does not hollow me out. Sustain in me a steady, grounded compassion, one that can keep showing up without losing itself. Keep me tender, not numb; keep me steady, not consumed. And in Colossians 3:12 your word says, “a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance.” Clothe me now with that same compassion, kindness, and perseverance, so my care for others stays whole. I trust you even when I cannot see how any of this will be resolved. Hold my heart steady and keep it open, Lord, for as long as this weighs on me. In Jesus' name, amen.
