Lord, I come to you carrying someone I love, someone I cannot fix or rescue no matter how hard I try. I am tired of hovering, tired of trying to hold what only you can hold. I want to hand this person over to you without letting go of my love for them. Lord, I want to release this person into your hands without pretending I do not love them or care what happens to them. Loving them does not mean carrying them. I bring my worry to you and ask you to hold what I cannot control. Steady me when I cannot see how their story will unfold. Give me rest instead of restlessness, and trust instead of trying to manage every outcome. Your word says in Psalm 37:7, “Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him”. So I choose to rest in you, Lord, waiting patiently rather than striving to control what is not mine to fix. Give me wisdom to know when to offer help and when to simply step back and let you work. Show me when words are needed and when patience and prayer are enough. Keep me from forcing my way in when what is truly needed is stillness. Help me trust that stepping back is not the same as giving up on them. And in Ecclesiastes 3:7 your word says, “a time to keep silence, and a time to speak”. Teach me to trust your timing, Lord, for when to speak and when to stay quiet and simply pray. I release them into your hands, Lord. I love them, and I am not walking away by letting go. Keep them close to you even when I cannot be there myself, and keep my heart steady while I wait. In Jesus’ name, amen.
