Lord, today looks like every other day, nothing marked out as special, and I come to you just as I am within it. Before I ask for anything else, I want to simply be here, awake to this day you have given me, not rushing past it or letting it slip by unnoticed. So much pulls at my attention, Lord, even on a plain and quiet day like this one. My mind wanders to what is next, to what is missing, to anything but what is actually in front of me. Steady my heart. Let whatever I do today, in small tasks and small conversations, be done with attention and with peace, not on autopilot. Whether I am speaking or working or simply moving through the hours, let it be done fully, with you, and not half absent from my own life. Your word says in Colossians 3:17, “And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed”. Let that be true of me today, Lord, in the small things as much as the large ones. Lord, I do not want to wait for something extraordinary before I feel thankful. Open my eyes to what is already good today, the food, the light, the people near me, the quiet stretches I might otherwise overlook. You provide even in the plain and unremarkable rhythms of a life, in ways I rarely stop to name. Help me not forget them. Let gratitude rise naturally out of noticing, not out of forcing myself to feel something I don't. I want to receive this day as a gift, not just get through it. And in Psalm 103:2 your word says, “Bless Jehovah, O my soul, And forget not all his benefits”. I don't want to forget your goodness today, Lord, even the quiet, ordinary parts of it. Thank you for this ordinary day, Lord, and for the chance to actually be in it. Keep drawing my attention back to what is real and present, and keep my heart soft enough to notice your goodness in the small things I might otherwise miss. In Jesus’ name, amen.
