Holy God, merciful Father, I come to you with a decision in front of me. You know it fully, and I do not have to explain it well for you to hear me. Lord, I admit that part of me wants this to be easy. But I want wisdom more than I want comfort. Have mercy on my hurry and my wavering. Give me clear discernment to recognise the right course and to understand this decision as it truly is. Quiet the noise within me, and keep me from choosing only what is convenient. As we hear in James 3:17, “the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle”. Lord, grant that kind of wisdom here, pure, peaceable and gentle, and steady this decision in your light. Lord Jesus, give me courage to follow what is wise and faithful, even when it is not the easiest option. When I am afraid, steady me. When I am tempted to look away, turn me back toward you. I trust that your grace is enough for each step, and I ask you to strengthen me with patience as I choose. And in Proverbs 16:9 we hear, “A man’s heart deviseth his way; But Jehovah directeth his steps.” Lord, direct the steps ahead, and teach this heart to trust you as it chooses what is faithful. Merciful Father, hear this prayer. Give me wisdom, Lord, and courage to choose well. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
