Prayers for a relationship in conflict
For the person you cannot talk to. Praying for peace does not oblige you to accept harm, and these prayers do not ask you to.
It might be a sister who stopped replying in March. It might be the colleague you have to sit opposite tomorrow, or a friendship that ended over something so small you are embarrassed to say it out loud. Whatever it is, you are probably carrying it around today while doing something else.
Most of what gets written about conflict assumes it will be sorted out. Sometimes it is. Sometimes the other person will not come to the table, or should not be invited to it. We have not written these prayers as if repair is guaranteed, because it is not.
Say the ones that fit. Skip the rest. They are short on purpose.

Before a conversation you are dreading
It is happening on Thursday, or tonight, or as soon as you press send. We have written these for the hour before, when you have rehearsed it forty times and none of the versions end well.
The hour before we talk
God, I have run this conversation in my head all week and I lose it every time. I am going anyway. Keep my voice steady. Keep me listening longer than I want to. If I cannot fix this today, help me not to make it worse.
For a gentler answer than I have ready
I have the sharp reply loaded and I know it would land. Take it out of my mouth. Give me the slower thing to say instead, even if it costs me the point.
