Lord God, giver of every good gift, I come to you with a quiet wish. I have been given more than I have noticed, and I would like to notice. Merciful Father, I confess that I have often hurried past your goodness without seeing it. Forgive my distraction and my half-attention. I bring you my desire to recognize the gifts already present in my life, the large and the small, the plain and the hidden. Let me not take them for granted, and let me not look away from them. As we hear in Genesis 28:16, “Surely Jehovah is in this place; and I knew it not.” Lord, open the eyes of the heart, and let your nearness be recognized in the ordinary places of this life. Teach me to slow down and look more fully at what you have given. Give me a wise and thankful heart, one that learns to pause, to receive, and to give thanks. Where I am slow to see, be patient with me. I trust your grace to train my attention day by day, through Christ, who gives us every reason for thanks. And in Ecclesiastes 3:11 we hear, “He hath made everything beautiful in its time”. Make the heart patient and thankful, Lord, and teach us to see the beauty you have placed in every season. Open my eyes, Lord, to all you have given. Thank you for your patience with me. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
