Lord, there is a decision in front of me, and I come to you wanting wisdom more than I want it to be easy. God, you know the choice I am facing, and you know I do not yet see clearly. I do not ask you to make it painless. I ask for an understanding heart. Help me slow down, listen well, and see what is true. Keep me from rushing, and keep me from hiding. Show me whom I might trust to talk it through with me, and give me the humility to listen to good counsel. Make me pure in my motives, peaceable, and gentle in how I weigh each option. Your word says in 1 Kings 3:9, “Give thy servant therefore an understanding heart”. Lord, give me that same kind of understanding heart as I weigh this choice, and teach me to see clearly. Lord, I want to choose well even if the path is not easy. I do not ask you to promise me how this will turn out. I ask you to steady me. When I feel the weight of it, give me patience. When I doubt myself, remind me that you are near. Direct my steps, and help me take the next faithful action, one honest step at a time. Let me rest in you when I am tired of thinking it over. And in Colossians 1:11 your word says, “strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, unto all patience and longsuffering with joy”. Strengthen me in that way, Lord, and give me patience for whatever this decision asks of me. Thank you for hearing me, Lord. I place this decision in your hands, and I ask for wisdom, steadiness, and the courage to take the next faithful step. In Jesus’ name, amen.
