Lord, you know I want to forgive, and you know I have not managed it yet. I come to you without pretending. God, the hurt is still real to me. I do not want to rush this or act as though it is gone. I am tired of feeling stuck, and I am tired of pretending I am further along than I am. Please hold my difficulty with patience. Let me be truthful with you about what I feel, the anger, the sadness, and the wanting to let go. Slow me down where I am pressuring myself, and soften me where I have grown hard. Your word says in Psalm 37:7, “Rest in Jehovah, and wait patiently for him”. Lord, let this be a place of rest and patient waiting, and hold the hurt gently while it is still raw. Lord, I do not fully know what forgiveness asks of me here. Give me discernment about what it means in this situation. If I need boundaries, help me see them clearly and keep them without bitterness. Let me never confuse forgiving with pretending nothing happened. Bring a trusted person to talk this through with me, someone wise and gentle. Guide each step I take, and keep my heart open to you. And in Colossians 3:13 your word says, “forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any”. Lord, shape forgiveness here by your care, and give wisdom for what it asks and what boundaries may be needed. Lord, meet me honestly in this struggle to forgive. I place it in your hands again today, and I trust you to walk with me at my pace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
