Prayer Pew vs Prayer Lock
Prayer Lock starts with distraction: block selected apps, pray, then unlock. Prayer Pew starts with what is on your heart and builds a complete Scripture-grounded prayer, with optional app blocking on iPhone and iPad as a supporting feature.

In short
Choose Prayer Lock on Android if app blocking is the main job. Choose Prayer Pew on iPhone or iPad if you want optional app blocking inside a deeper personal-prayer experience. Prayer Pew is also available on the web and Android, but app blocking is Apple-only.

The differences that change the choice
| Question | Prayer Pew | Prayer Lock | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main job | Creates a complete personal prayer from a situation, with prayer points, Scripture and narration. | Blocks selected apps so opening them creates a pause for a short generated prayer. | Personal prayer with an optional Apple-only lock versus an Android lock whose unlock action is prayer. |
| App blocking today | Take a Pew can optionally pause selected apps on iPhone and iPad. It is not available in the web or Android versions. | The official Android listing describes active app blocking through Android AccessibilityService. | Prayer Pew provides app blocking on Apple devices; Covenant Studios’ Prayer Lock provides it on Android. |
| Prayer shape | Reflects the situation into explicit prayer points, lets the person choose stance and length, and creates an editable finished prayer. | Its listing describes telling the app how you feel and receiving a short, Bible-rooted prayer before apps unlock. | Prayer Pew puts more of the product around forming and inhabiting the prayer. |
| Scripture and audio | Shows contextual passages and exact anchors, then narrates the same prayer with read-along playback. | Public store copy calls its generated prayer Bible-rooted; it does not describe the same passage-context and narrated-prayer workflow. | This is a difference in documented scope, not a claim about features the publisher has not described. |
| Access model | The web core can be tried free without an account; Plus expands generation limits and formats. | Its current Google Play description says all listed features require an active subscription. | Check the live checkout in your region before paying for either product. |
| Store status | Available on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android. App blocking is limited to iPhone and iPad. | Android was live. Apple returned no listing for app ID 6744703926 in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany or France when checked. | Availability can change quickly; use the linked stores as the final check. |
The shared feature hides two different products
Prayer Lock’s Android app and Prayer Pew’s Apple-only Take a Pew feature both connect prayer with a pause before selected apps. Their centres are reversed: Prayer Lock’s public promise is behavioural (stop the scroll, pray, unlock), while Prayer Pew centres the personal prayer itself.
The platform split matters. Prayer Pew can block selected apps on iPhone and iPad, while its web and Android versions provide the prayer experience without an app gate. Covenant Studios’ Prayer Lock remains the Android option in this comparison.
What can we verify about Prayer Lock on iPhone?
We can report the public result, not the reason. On 31 August 2026 Apple’s lookup service returned zero results for Prayer Lock’s app ID in six storefronts, and its former US App Store URL returned 404. We found no first-party explanation that would justify saying why.
The Android package com.maubaron.prayerlock remained public on Google Play. Existing iPhone installations and Apple redownload eligibility can differ from a public listing, so do not delete an installed app solely because a search page says the public listing is unavailable.
Where Prayer Pew’s app blocking works
Take a Pew is opt-in and pauses only apps the person selects on iPhone or iPad, lifting after any completed prayer for the local day. It is unscored, can be turned off, and remains secondary to the personal-prayer experience.
Prayer Pew itself is available on the web, iPhone, iPad and Android. The web and Android versions do not block apps, so Android users seeking a hard app gate should compare the live Covenant Studios listing directly.
Which one is a better fit?
Prayer Pew is a better fit when…
- The personal, narrated prayer matters more to you than the app gate.
- You want explicit prayer points and Scripture context behind the generated prayer.
- You use iPhone or iPad and want app blocking to remain optional and secondary to prayer.
- You want to use the prayer experience on the web or Android without app blocking.
Prayer Lock is a better fit when…
- You use Android and need app blocking now.
- A hard interruption before selected apps is the main behaviour you want.
- A short mood-matched prayer is enough for that interruption.
- You are comfortable with the subscription requirement described in its current listing.
